Lesson From OR: Tariff Relief is (Somewhat) in Your Hands

Outdoor Retailer Summer attendees learned that tariff relief should be coming for outdoor brands and that companies have some control over the duties they pay on their imported finished good or materials. During a session, “Thriving Business: Tariff Relief for Outdoor Companies: How the New Trade Legislation Can Help Your Bottom Line” a group of panelists told the crown that Congress will soon consider legislation to renew two trade programs and establish a process to help companies impacted by the China 301 tariffs, both of which could help outdoor companies bottom lines. | More Information

July Retail Sales Slow Amid Tight Supply Chain but Demand Continues as Consumers Learn to ‘Live with the Virus’

Welcome Destiny Greenwood to Worldwide 
Destiny Greenwood joined Worldwide as the Associate Category Manager for Apparel Accessories & Outerwear in addition to team support for the Apparel Group.
 
Destiny has been in the retail industry almost 10 years. She brings retail management experience from many different categories including USA made leather boots, fashion apparel, and affordable luxury jewelry.
 
Destiny is passionate about people, and is excited to grow relationships with our independent retailers. 
 
“It’s exciting to work behind the scenes and see everything come together for the tradeshow we’re putting on. I am looking forward to being able to meet everyone in person and get to know the many members we work with.”
 
When not working you can find her adventuring outdoors, or sipping coffee while working on a word search or puzzle.

 

 Welcome Sara Gray to Worldwide
Sara Gray joined the Worldwide team as our Corporate Controller. Prior to joining Worldwide, Sara has held a variety of leadership positions in accounting and finance for privately-owned organizations throughout her career. Sara is a graduate of the University of Washington and previously earned her designation as a certified public accountant.
 
Sara states, “I’m excited to join the Worldwide team and having an opportunity to support independent retailers and family-owned businesses. I look forward to meeting and serving the membership of Worldwide.”
 
Sara and her husband, Mike, like to spend time traveling, enjoying sports, and exploring the outdoors. They are recent ‘empty-nesters’ as their three combined children pursue their own passions, providing more time for Sara and Mike to explore new hobbies. Sara shares that she enjoys beaches, sunshine, and living in flip-flops whenever possible.

Welcome George Hall to the Merchandising Team
George joins as a Merchandising Assistant for the hunt, fish, and camp categories. He joined Worldwide about six months ago and you can finally meet him in Reno at the Fall 2021 Show. Here is a little bit about George-
"Hi, I'm George Hall. I come to Worldwide after spending 35 years in the Retail/Outdoor Industry in the Merchandising, Supply Chain, Operations, Data Management, Human Resources, and Finance arenas. When I'm not at work or helping support Worldwide's day-to-day functions, I can usually be found in the outdoors or on a much anticipated family road trip with my better half  Steve, and our newest family member, April (a Boxer-Pitt rescue)."

Welcome Julie Epstein to the Merchandising Team
She joins as a Merchandising Assistant for Toy, Home & Garden, and Footwear. She joined Worldwide about six months ago and you can finally meet her in Reno at the Fall 2021 Show. Here is a little bit about Julie –
Julie comes to Worldwide with 20 years of Administrative/Executive Assistant experience working for companies ranging from the Industrial to the Service sectors. She is a proud University of Washington Alumnus (go Dawgs!) who has the “absolute best Family and Friends Ever!” As her co-workers recently learned by way of several hours spent in a vehicle together, Julie thinks the song “The Gambler” is the gold standard for solid life lessons, and will eagerly sing it to emphasize this point.
